Bio
Hi, I’m Ellen Leabeater, and when it comes to podcasts, yes I can do it all.
I’ve worked in audio for a decade, starting out with my own music radio show when I was 15. I’ve since worked on some of Australia’s most popular podcasts, such as the chart-topping Ben Roberts-Smith v the Media for Guardian Australia and Unravel True Crime (Season 1 & 2) for Australia’s national broadcaster, the ABC.
Currently, I work for Guardian Australia as a supervising producer for the news podcast Full Story.
I’ve also won awards nationally and internationally for my work. I’ve taken out a Gold New York Radio Award for my work examining why Australia’s stillbirth rate has remained unchanged for two decades, and was part of the team recognised in a Walkley win for Season 1 of Unravel, and a Walkley nomination for Season 2. Full Story has also received multiple awards in the 2020 Australian Podcast Awards.
With a background in journalism I can pitch, research, interview, fact check and structure a story. When it comes to the technical stuff I’m comfortable field recording, operating studios, editing audio, as well as mixing levels and music into broadcast-ready audio. I'm competent in ProTools, Adobe Audition, Reaper and Hindenburg.
When I’m not absorbed in audio, you can find me swimming, cycling or running - or all at once doing a triathlon! I love keeping fit and find my best ideas strike when my heart rate is up.
I’m available for short term projects or podcast consulting, and always happy to grab a coffee and chat pods 🎧
